I am Little Drummer Boy

Merry Christmas!  And Happy New Year early.  (I've shared this before, but I'll share it again, even though it's unrelated to Calvinism.  But hey, you gotta take a break from it now and then, don't you?) My all-time favorite classic Christmas song has got to be the Little Drummer Boy.   If I’m listening to this song and start to think too much about it, I start to well up with tears.  Every time. My sons occasionally ask me why this is my favorite Christmas song.   “It’s stupid and it doesn’t make sense,” they say. I answer like this: “This song is about a little boy who’s poor.  And he wants to bring Jesus a gift.  But he doesn’t have anything to give him.  And so he gives the baby Jesus the only gift he has to give – a song.  And this poor boy is drumming his little heart out for the Lord, because that’s all he has to give.  But it’s enough.  And the baby Jesus smiles.” Usually, I am trying to hold back tears as I s...

Calvi-cult 3: Good hearts, but...

Okay, I decided to share some preliminary notes first (published over a few posts), and then I'll get more into Calvinism word-tricks, errors, and cult-like tactics.  (The preliminary notes will eventually morph into the regular posts, so you might not even know when the switch happens.  But that's because I can't even really tell when it happens.  It just...happens.)    Click here for part 1 of this series: "Calvi-cult's damage to hearts, minds, and faith" ... and click here for part 2: "What is a cult? Is Calvinism a cult?"    [And on a random note, here's a YouTube video I just found (I just stumbled on this channel, but it might be worth checking out more).  It's not about "cults," but about why this man, Anthony, rejects Calvinism: Rejecting Calvinism and My Reasons Why .  And I just thought I'd slip it in here to share it.  Hopefully, he does more videos on this topic.]  [After this, I'm adding the posts in this serie...

This series  is  loosely   based on this 14-minute video from Alana L.:   5 Signs Your Loved One is Becoming a Calvinist   Point #5 still :   S:  "Sovereign, sovereign, sovereign, sovereign."     Since we're on the topic of God's sovereignty over mankind's actions - how God's "sovereignty" relates to ("predetermines/controls") man's "free will" - here's seven more quotes (and a conversation in the comment section of Soteriology 101's blog) about Calvinism's view/definition of "free will," to show that their idea of "free will" is not free at all. 1. John MacArthur  (" Doctrine of Election, part 1 " ):  " You’re guilty.  You’re culpable.    You did it.  You did it with your own will.    But God had predetermined it would be done. "    2. Mayhue   ( "Election and Predestination: The Sovereignty of God in Salvation" ) :  "... And the other thing that people stumbl...
