Leaving Calvinism: Comments from Ex-Calvinists #5

Here is the next batch of ex-Calvinist testimonies (and those who never were Calvinists but who came face to face with it) from this post:  X-Calvinist Corner .   (It's an Arminian website, but I am not Arminian.)  I am going to highlight some of the comments that stood out to me the most.  If I add any comments of my own, it will be  [blue and in brackets] .  I made minor corrections for better grammar and punctuation.  If you want to read everything that everyone said, click on the link above: Steve: .... the damage done by so-called Calvinists around the area where I live cannot be glorifying to the Name of the Lord Jesus.... These people sort to divide the body and were vindictive to the point of declaring those who would not agree with them ‘unsaved’.  The whole thing was an absolute mess....  All objective discussion disappeared and it became simply a personal vendetta based on the principle that ‘we are right and you are wrong’.......

Joe Cocker's Song - "Have a Little Faith in Me"

  I rediscovered this song a little while ago, a song I've always loved.  (I've always been a fan of gravelly voices like Joe Cocker's.) And I found this great video to go with it:   "Have a Little Faith in Me" We all have faith in something.  We are all betting our eternal souls on something. Where's your faith?  Who or what are you counting on to save you?

Exposing Calvinism: Assurance of Salvation?

Here are some comments from Calvinists and non-/anti-Calvinists from the Soteriology 101 post "Romans 8:29-30 or How We Can Trust God at His Word" .   Romans 8:29-30  (KJV) :   “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son … Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” Calvinists interpret these verses to mean that God predestines who goes to heaven, that He elects certain sinners to be saved and then calls them (and only them) to believe, leaving the rest to go to hell with no chance to be saved.   But these verses don't say that.  They say that God predestines those He "foreknows" (those who will believe) to be conformed to the image of Jesus.  This is not about certain sinners being predestined to be saved but about God predestining believers to be conformed to Jesus's image, to be glorified in the...
